Just learned of the passing of Davy Jones, lead singer of The Monkees, from an apparent heart attack.
Even though they were a made for television group I really enjoyed their music when I was younger. Back in the day, they had moments when they rivaled the popularity of The Beatles, who were the inspiration for the Monkees TV show. I remember one of my older girl cousins and her friends listening to Monkees albums when I was visiting at my Aunts house. Before that, I had no idea that they were actually recording artists as well.
Obviously Davy died much too young, but I still can’t help but feel like I have just aged a great deal.

I had a big poster of Davy Jones on my bedroom wall. He was one of my great childhood crushes. We even went to a Monkees reunion concert a number of years ago. I always smile when I hear one of their songs! He will be missed by an entire generation of girls!
